FAQ’s

Who can apply?

Only Australian citizens that are representatives of existing Australian social enterprises can apply.

Does it help if we put in multiple applications from our enterprise?

Absolutely not.  Please don’t.

What if more than one person wants to attend from my enterprise?

That’s terrific – however this Fund can only be issued to one representative from each enterprise.  It is highly desirable that the representative is a senior member of the enterprise.  i.e. CEO, Founder, Co-Founder, Senior Manager, Executive, Board member etc.

When will you announce who has been successful?

Successful applicants will be announced on June 21st at the Social Enterprise Conference in Melbourne.

What does the Australian Bursary Fund cover?

The Australian Bursary fund for the Social Enterprise World Forum 2017 covers up to $500 for flights, a voucher to the value of NZ$700 to cover accommodation and a ticket to the Forum.

What if my enterprise doesn’t meet Social Traders definition of social enterprise?

If you don’t meet the social enterprise definition that is used by Social Traders, it’s possible you aren’t a social enterprise.  The purpose of this Bursary Fund is to provide an avenue for Australian social enterprise leaders with the opportunity to attend the Social Enterprise World Forum.  We understand that many enterprises might be at different stages and technically do not qualify for this definition.  That’s ok.  Answering ‘No’ to any of the self-validation questions doesn’t necessarily eliminate you from the judging process. What is important is that you answer as accurately as you can.    This assists us greatly when reviewing the applications.

How will the applications be assessed?

All applications will be assessed by a panel including the English Family Foundation, Philanthropy Australia, The Ākina Foundation and Social Traders.  Each of the 4 application questions are adjudicated against criteria that include, values fit, ability to participate, contribute and represent Australian social enterprise in an ongoing manner.

What are my obligations while I’m in NZ?

If you are successful in your application you will be expected to participate and attend the Social Enterprise World Forum for its duration and attend 2 networking events that will be arranged by Social Traders.  The first of these events will be the night before the Forum commences, and the second will be on the last day of the Forum.  Selected recipients of the Bursary Fund will be notified of this before the Forum.

What happens if I’m successful but can’t go? Can I transfer my ticket?

All accommodation, registration and tickets can be transferred to another person at no cost at any time. If tickets needs to be transferred it is important that they are transferred to a senior member of the enterprise. Information on how to make transfers will be included in the registration confirmation letter along with the terms and conditions.  Costs incurred through transferring flights must be borne by the individual or enterprise.

I have further questions, can I speak to someone?

The quickest way to have your queries answered is to divert your queries to email.  To do this, please click on the ‘Contact Us’ section of the Social Traders website and choose the “Social Enterprise World Forum 2017′ in the drop down box.  Please keep your queries as succinct and to the point as possible.  We’re a pretty lean team!
